London's Best Winter Roasts, 2022

The Culpeper, Liverpool St

The weather is *finally* getting colder, the teddy coat, wooly hat, (and controversially, Ugg boots circa 2006) are back out, which means one thing and one thing only - it's time to find London's 2022 best roast dinner!

First up on our city Sunday Roast round up is The Culpeper Spitalfields.

Situated conveniently on Liverpool Street's doorstep; this four-story hub is the perfect meeting place for friends and family to come together from different corners of London and beyond. With a pub on the ground floor and restaurant on the second, you can dial up the ambiance as you see fit.

We just love the pub Sunday roast menu and can vouch for the bavette steak ticking all of our discerning boxes: perfectly cooked meat, puffiest Yorkshires, sustainably farmed vegetables and the richest gravy we could dream of - all served with lashings of London charm in a light, bright comfort zone of a space.

The Culpeper has a 2021 AA Rosette award for culinary excellence. We're manifesting more than one Sunday afternoon whiled away here this winter.

The Ivy, Covent Garden

As the cold snap continues, cosy, indulgent Sundays are top of our list... but add a pinch of glamour!

Therefore, next up on our city Sunday Roast round up is none other than The Ivy. Part of the fabric of our city, The Ivy requires little introduction to most; from seasoned foodie to social butterfly, this iconic venue with its opulent green awning has been drawing a loyal following for over 100 years. Set in the heart of Covent Garden, this world-renowned favourite-of-the-stars epitomises the glitz and glamour of a bygone era - the shimmering Central Dining Bar never failing to captivate us with its timeless sparkle.

The menu seamlessly incorporates classic and contemporary dishes with the Sunday Roast offering being no exception to this. Our personal Ivy favourite has to the Roasted Duck Breast Fillet with heritage carrot, burnt orange and pistachio. Duck is a rare find on a roast menu these days and as such, one which we relish all the more; especially with such a perfect fusion of zingy flavours. Those looking for a more classic take on the Sunday Roast will not be disappointed - the Corn Fed Chicken and Roasted Pork Belly have equally glowing reviews. With an extensive global wine list to compliment your selection, The Ivy delights every sense and makes for the perfect Sunday treat.

We can't wait for our next visit - in fact, we're already planning our outfit.
